HOMETOWN FEEL

‘Out of a story book’ kind of town.

Yarmouth is the kind of place that you will often see school children walking or riding their bikes to school. The sense of community cannot go unnoticed. The town slogan, “Our Latchstring Always Out,” is a nod to history and the welcoming spirit that is alive and well.

The Yarmouth school system is the highest rated in Maine, and is known for community involvement and enthusiasm.

Coastal Scenery

Island and river walks, views of Casco Bay.

Grab your bean boots and head out to Cousens Island or Sandy Point Beach for incredible swimming, views or a spot to launch your sea kayaks. Royal River Park is the perfect place for a pleasant walk along the water, winding through the woods and eventually rewarding visitors with a waterfall and historic mill site. All very accessible and great for families.

LOCAL FOOD

No need to leave Yarmouth for a vibrant food scene.

Portland is one of the best cities in the Northeast to find great restaurants and creative dining experiences. Yarmouth however, will not disappoint! Owners of the beloved Dandy’s Handy Store have opened a new burger, fries and milkshake spot called, Thoroughfare. Or, head over to the the Royal River Grill House, a favorite since 2002 for an amazing atmosphere for lunch and dinner. Gather, opened in 2012 as a neighborhood restaurant for friends in family that focuses on seasonal, local ingredients.

  • Move to Maine, and trust us, everyone will want to know. The truth is, yes! However, the ocean at our footsteps keeps it tolerable, and you will adapt. You’ll want a good jacket, and before you know it, at the end of March, Spring will lead us to our ever so loved Summer. If you want more snow, head West.

The other great part of a Maine Winter? Even though there are plenty of attractions in Greater Portland to share with tourists, traffic will be lower in the Winter, so throw on a pair of boots and enjoy!

  • We’ve got some stats:

According to the US census, median household income is $71,667. The average home price: $695,000, and the average 1-bedroom rental is around $1,550.

The cost of living is consistently above the national average.
