Introducing oUTSKIRT Studio: a New Artists and Makers Collaborative Work Space

NEW to Maine and new to the world in general is oUTSKIRT STUDIO, in Lyman, Maine - just about 10 minutes from Biddeford’s downtown district and just a few minutes longer from the Kennebunks.

oUTSKIRT studio is a recent endeavor by Shannon Richards, of Hay Runner, and business / romantic partner, Caleb Johnson.  They share homes and kids - and a passion for the arts.

Johnson and Richards have a small (if not tiny) home in Biddeford and needed space to spread out and remind themselves why they got into the creative world to begin with.

They poured their hearts (and cement) into building a new foundation for that passion.  Please welcome oUTSKIRTS studio - a beautifully renovated brick schoolhouse until recently, underutilized by the town that originally built it.

The space already has some members but plenty of room to grow and looking forward to building a lifetime of creation in this space, and beyond, its walls. Concentrations on building workshops for ceramic artists coming, with outdoor space to build woodfire and sodium kilns, for the many potters and ceramists in our communities.  Other amenities include a fully maintained baseball field and auditorium with stage for small events.

Shared spaces and individual spaces available for members, and events spaces, indoor and out, available for creative gatherings.

Richards' youngest daughter playing on the stage, and Owen Johnson working on the back stairs.
