Meet the Team
East Pine served as a Portland-based interior plant design company created as a one-stop shop for all things indoor plants. Their work is known throughout the greater Portland area at places like Austin Street Brewery, Apres and SeaWeed Co, to name a few –- showcasing expertise in Interior Plant Design, along with ongoing Plant Care Services. Now nested under Hay Runner, the offerings combine the beauty of interior design with the timeless and grounded nature of plants.

Plant Designer
Art + Nature: two things that always have, and always will exist synonymously in Amalia's world. From early childhood to college and beyond, she has created a life centered around her devotion to collaborating with the natural world in a myriad of ways.
With a background in art + design and over a decade of hands-on plant care experience, Amalia founded East Pine in 2020 with the intention of creating a one-stop shop for all things indoor plants. From plant care to plant design - she found herself continuously searching for a resource that was able to meet the growing needs of her & her plant collection - both aesthetically and functionally.
Today, she brings interior spaces to life with curated potted plant collections to match the look + feel of her clients aesthetic, as well as the functional needs of the plants. In her words “being able to share my love + expertise for helping plants thrive during all 4 seasons here in Maine is the greatest gift I can give my clients + community.”

Plant Care Coordinator
Sara is a Massachusetts native with a love for all plants both indoors and out! She moved up to Maine in 2021 in search of a new adventure. After working a few years in Marketing she decided to pursue her passion for plants and joined Amalia at East Pine in July 2022. Now, Sara spends her days caring for client plant collections and healing any that need some extra TLC. When she’s not tending to plants you can find her on long walks with her dog Milo, hiking, camping and enjoying the outdoors.
